ABOUT EVENT

INDIA DAY is an event hosted every year around the 15th of August to commemorate India’s Independence.

 “India Day” in Ireland was inaugurated by Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) of Ireland Ms Joan Burton on 5 September 2015. The second India Day was held on 20 August, 2016. Ms Frances Fitzgerald T.D., An Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister for Justice and Equality, along with Mr Leo Varadkar T.D., Minister for Social Protection officially opened 2nd India Day in the presence of Mr Jaswant Singh Bishnoi, Chairman, Central Wool Development Board, Ministry of Textile, Government of India and Ms Radhika Lal Lokesh, Ambassador of India to Ireland.

INDIA DAY celebration is supported by the Indian Embassy in Ireland, Farmleigh, Office of Public Works, Dublin City Council, Dublin City Arts Office, and various other government and non-government organisations.
